SALEM, Ore. - Junior midfielder Fernando Karczeski scored a pair of goals in the final six minutes, but Corban's men's soccer team could not overcome a first half scoring onslaught by the Knights of Warner Pacific and fell, 4-2, Saturday on Warrior Field.

It was a dismal first half for the Warriors as they found themselves down four goals after 28 minutes of play.

The Knights' Luis Galvan initiated the scoring frenzy in the 20th minute after receiving a pass across the goal mouth from Andrew Scott.

In the 24th minute, Warner Pacific's J.B. Cunha took a through ball from Chris Price and slotted it under the Warriors' junior net-minder James DelCastillo.

Jaxin Skyward and Davor Lukic recorded goals in the 25th and 28th minutes respectively.

Corban buckled down at halftime after some much needed words from senior co-captain Caleb Louvier and played with determination for the final 45 minutes.

In the second stanza, the host Warriors recorded seven shots including a pair of just-missed opportunities in the 18-yard box by Louvier.

The Warriors finally capitalized on their efforts in the 85th and 90th minutes, when Karczeski tallied his first two goals of the season.

On the first, the Brazilian native stole a ball from the Knights deep in the visitors' end and struck a shot past Warner Pacific's substitute goal keeper, Brian Kelly.

Corban's second goal came in the final minute of play as the Warriors were rewarded a free kick just outside the Knights' 18-yard box.

Karczeski smoothly stepped up and found the back of the net with a powerful right-footed strike that burnt past the Knights' wall and goal keeper.

DelCastillo pulled in a game-high 3 saves while going the distance between the pipes for Corban.

His counterpart, Warner Pacific's Clark Henarie played for 67 scoreless minutes before being replaced by Kelly, who collected the Knights' lone save of the afternoon.

Corban finds itself at 3-4-1 overall, 2-2-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action after the loss.

On the other hand, Warner Pacific progresses its overall record to 3-5-0 and conference record of 3-2-0.

The Warriors are next in action on Friday, September 28th, when they continue Cascade Collegiate Conference play against The Evergreen State College beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem.
