PORTLAND, Ore. - Limited Concordia to a .027 hitting percentage, the defending Cascade Collegiate Conference champion Coyotes from the College of Idaho defeated the Cavaliers 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-9) in volleyball action on Saturday night.

With the win, C of I improved to 9-1 on the year and 6-0 in CCC play while CU dropped to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the league.

The Yotes fired at a .424 rate the opening game to win handedly. Kristin Henning (Boise, Idaho) and Cassie Ely (La Grande, Ore.) combined for nine kills as C of I went on to a 25-12 win.

Concordia took an early lead in the second with a Clair Thiel (Oak Harbor, Wash.) kill followed by a Yote attacking error to give the Cavs a 6-3 lead. A 7-3 run by C of I would tie the game at 10-10 and the two teams would trade points until the board read 15-15. From that point it was all Yotes as the visiting team pulled away to a 25-21 victory.

The Yote drive continued into the third as the Cavs could muster only four kills and nine points as C of I completed the sweep with a 25-9 capper.

Ciciley Fox (Challis, Idaho) led all attackers with 12 kill, one above teammate Ely. Madie Machurek (Eagle, Idaho) provided 34 of the team’s 39 assists while Whitney Owen (Caldwell, Idaho) was the lone Yote in double figures with 10 digs.

McKenzie Rath (Selah, Wash.) led the Cavs with eight kills off of 17 chances for a .471 attack percentage. Skyler Kamaka (Kaneohe, Hawaii) totaled 22 assists while Raluca Dinca (Portland, Ore.) collected a match-high 20 digs.

Concordia returns to action on Sept. 25 when it travels to Northwest University. C of I will next travel to Eastern Oregon for a 7:00 p.m. match on the same day.
