REDMOND, Ore. - WHR Motorsports announced today a partnership with Yamaha to become the title sponsor of the seventh round of AMA Supermoto Championship at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center on Sept. 29th in Redmond, Ore.
The Yamaha Rampage in Redmond will mark the first ever appearance for the AMA Supermoto Championship in the state of Oregon. "It is going to be a great experience to bring supermoto to the Northwest," commented local rider Doni Wanat of Woodinville, Wash. "We have a supercross and motocross national, and now with an AMA Supermoto race, it presents a new opportunity to grow the sport and expose it to all forms of riders and first-time fans."
Yamaha has played an integral role in the early success of the AMA Supermoto Championship, including its support of current points' leading Graves Yamaha, one of the sport's premier teams.
"Keith McCarty (of Yamaha) has been following the AMA Supermoto Championships for some time now and looking to help Yamaha and AMA Supermoto forge an even stronger relationship", explained Lee Collins, of WHR Motorsports, the promoter of Yamaha Rampage in Redmond. "Yamaha's support of this event will help bring excitement and exposure to our first-time event. Fans in Central Oregon can expect some exciting racing on September 29."
The race course at Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center will measure approximately 5500' in length, with 1700' of dirt section with jumps and turns, including a unique 270-degree first turn. In addition to AMA Supermoto racing, the Yamaha Rampage in Redmond will showcase a freestyle motocross and street bike demo from the Metal Mulisha and Believers Street and Stunt Team. Spectators will have the opportunity to collect autographs and meet there favorite riders at the pre race pit party from 3:45 to 4:45.
Advance Tickets are available at Redmond, Bend, Prineville, and Madras NAPA Auto Parts stores. Tickets are $25 for Adult Weekend Passes (Ages 13+), and $15 for Youth Weekend Passes (Ages 12 & under). All single day tickets are available at the track only. Single day prices are: Friday Practice - Adults $12, Youth $7; Saturday - Adult $17, Youth $12; Sunday - Adult $12, Youth $7.
