LOS ANGELES - Behind hat tricks from Jodie Taylor and Red Nixon, the Oregon State women's soccer team defeated Lamar, 8-0, Sunday at the LMU/Four Points Sheraton Culver City Classic.

The eight goals equaled Oregon State's original record for goals in a match set Nov. 3, 1988 against Linfield.

The Beavers are now 5-1 this season and have outscored their opponents, 18-4.

In each of the five victories, Oregon State has posted a shutout.

Taylor’s and Nixon’s three-goal efforts marked just the second and third hat tricks in the history of the Loyola Marymount tournament.

The Beavers also scored five goals in the second half, which ties Loyola Marymount’s previous tournament record.

"We just went out there today and took care of the things we needed to work on," Oregon State head coach Steve Fennah said.

Taylor posted her second hat trick of the season, finishing the match with 11 shots, nine of which were on net.

She scored at the 42nd, 81st and 84th minutes of the game to give her nine goals on the season.

Her first hat trick of the season came Sept. 7 in a 4-0 victory over Montana at Paul Lorenz Field.

Nixon, meanwhile, posted her first three goals of the season.

She scored her first at the 26th minute of the game on an assist from Jetta Sadusky, and posted her second at the 62nd minute on a header from a Courtney Wetzel corner kick.

Nixon gave herself a hat trick at the 77th minute. The goal, yet another header, came on a corner kick from Taylor.

Nixon, overall, had four shots on goal, with all three on target finding the back of the net.

The Beavers, meanwhile, had 31 shots, compared to Lamar's (0-6) two. Nineteen of Oregon State's shots were on goal.

Finishing up the scoring for Oregon State was Najma Homidi, who's goal at the 13th minute of the game proved to be the game-winner.

Sadusky scored her second goal of the season in the 84th minute, just 10 seconds prior to Taylor's final goal.

Ashley Wood started in goal for the Beavers, picking up the win to improve to 5-1 this season. She stopped two shots in 45 minutes.

Caitlin Seeley came on in the second half and did not need to make a save in 45 minutes of work.

The Beavers next hit the pitch Sept. 21 when traveling to Missoula, Mont., for the Montana Nike Cup.

Oregon State plays Boise State Sept. 21 at 1:00 p.m. PT. The Beavers end the tournament Sept. 23 with an 11:00 a.m. match against Detroit-Mercy.
