Western Oregon to Host Women's Hoop Clinic

Registration cost is $30 for head coaches and only $10 for each additional assistant coach that attends.

MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Oregon University will be holding a coaching clinic to demonstrate the fundamentals of the fast break offense and post play at the NPE Gymnasium from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3.

WOU women's basketball head coach Greg Bruce and head coach Michael Meek of three-time defending state champion Southridge High School will be speaking.

Registration cost is $30 for head coaches and only $10 for each additional assistant coach that attends.

The clinic will feature discussions by Coach Meek on the art of post play and Coach Bruce on the fast break.

Clinic notes along with play diagram sheets will be included.

In addition, the WOU women's basketball team will demonstrate the fast break offense and various shooting drills.

A question and answer session will follow each discussion.

Greg Bruce is in his second season at WOU after tenures at Portland State, Northern Colorado, Cal State Bakersfield, and Fort Lewis.

He led PSU to five post-season appearances including a national runner-up finish during the 1994-95 season.

His teams have set numerous scoring and shooting percentage records.

Michael Meek is coming off back-to-back-to back Oregon high school state championships.

He has coached numerous players that have received college scholarships and has a post developmental system that allows his players to elevate their individual skills.

The NPE Gymnasium is located on Church Street across from the football complex on the Western Oregon campus.

A continental breakfast and sandwich lunch will be provided for all coaches attending.
