SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Senior Nick Webb scored his second goal of the season in Oregon State’s 2-1 win over Sacramento State Sunday afternoon.

Oregon State (2-2-0) attempted 15 total shots, 13 in the first half alone, while all of Sacramento State’s (0-4-0) nine attempts came in the second half.

“I was pleased with the guys, the way they came back and really brought a high level of energy today. I thought they outworked Sacramento State in the first half,” Oregon State head coach Dana Taylor said. “We have to do a better job of putting the ball away with our opportunities given to us and the opportunities that we create. All in all, I’m looking forward to coming home for the next four days and looking to be at home with our fans.”

After four attempts by the Beavers, freshman Chris Miller connected with the goal just inside the 17th minute, assisted by senior Brett Gardner and junior Daniel Leach, on a shot from a header off of the corner.

In the first shot of the second half, Webb’s header into the goal proved to be the game winning shot, putting the Beavers up 2-0 after 48 minutes of play.

Freshman Morgan Zeeno earned his first assist of the season on the goal.

Ernesto Carranza scored the lone goal for the Hornets halfway through the 73rd minute on a penalty kick.

Goalkeeper Ryan Kenny stopped five attempts by Oregon State.

Oregon State returns home to host the OSU Diadora Classic Sept. 14-15. The Beavers will face Oakland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
