3 Charged in Killing of University of Memphis Football Player

Police said all three men are charged with murder in the perpetration of attempted aggravated robbery.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Police in Memphis say three men have been charged with the fatal shooting of University of Memphis football player Taylor Bradford.

The 21-year-old defensive lineman was shot on September 30 after he walked out of the the Carpenter Complex, a residence hall located on Central Avenue near the northeast corner of campus, where he lived, and was in his car when the shooting occurred. Police found him after his car ran into a tree a short distance from the campus.

Police said all three men, DaeShawn Tate, 21, Victor Trezevant, 21, and Courtney Washington, 22, are charged with murder in the perpetration of attempted aggravated robbery.

The investigation revealed that the three suspects went to the Carpenter complex on Sunday with the specific intent to rob Taylor Bradford and during this attempted robbery shot him.

Bradford was a redshirt junior defensive lineman, who transferred to Memphis after playing two seasons at Samford University. His major was marketing.

None of the suspects charged thus far are students at the University of Memphis.
