NEW YORK - The New York Yankees announced today that they have made an in-series injury substitution, adding LHP Ron Villone to the American League Division Series roster and removing RHP Roger Clemens.

Villone, 37, was 0-0 with a 4.25 ERA (42.1IP, 20ER) in 37 appearances with the Yankees in 2007, following his recall from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 15.

He owns two career postseason appearances, tossing a combined 1.2 scoreless innings (1H, 1BB, 1K).

Clemens, 45, left Sunday's ALDS Game 3 vs. Cleveland in the third inning with a strained left hamstring.

He pitched in his 24th Major League season in 2007, going 6-6 with a 4.18 ERA (99.0IP, 99H, 52R, 46ER, 31BB, 68BB, 9HR) in 18 games (17 starts).

He is Baseball's active leader in wins (354), games started (707), complete games (118), shutouts (46), innings pitched (4,916.2) and strikeouts (4,672).

Per Major League Baseball's rules, Clemens is ineligible for the American League Championship Series.
