TACOMA, Wash. - The No. 17 University of Oregon women's golf team climbed three positions into a tie for sixth place after the second round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted Tuesday by Washington at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club. The Ducks (307-298-605) stood in a tie with No. 40 Stanford (sixth, 299-306-605) in the 14-team field that featured six, top-40 ranked teams. Overall in the team standings, No. 13 California (first, 284-283-567) added six strokes to its lead Tuesday over No. 2 USC (second, 285-289-574). Rounding out the top five, No. 54 Washington (third, 293-298-591) was followed by No. 9 Pepperdine (fourth, 301-295-596) and No. 16 UC Davis (fifth, 298-302-600). Individually on the par 72, 6,078-yard course, senior Kendra Little (12th-tie, 74-73-147) topped Oregon for the second straight round, third time this season and 45th occasion career-wise. The Eugene, Oregon, native turned in her fourth and fifth birdies of the tournament on the par-4 fifth and par-5 16th holes; shot 13 par scores (#1-4, 6, 10-15, 17-18); and bogeyed the seventh, eighth and ninth holes. Using its same line-up from two earlier fall events, UO also counted scores from senior Erica Omlid (21st-t, 76-74-150), sophomore Cheyenne Hickle (32nd-t, 75-77-152) and junior Ashley Edwards (48th, 82-74-156). Freshman Raphaela Dyer rounded out the UO contingent with her second-round 79 after not scoring in Monday’s opener. Among other birdie counts Tuesday, Omlid and Edwards both added two, and Dyer and Hickle each had one, respectively. Overall on the individual leaderboard, Callifornia’s Emily Child (first, 68-68-136) shot the low round for the second straight day and broke her first-day tie for first place with teammate Joanne Lee (second, 68-72-140) and USC’s Sophia Popov (third, 68-73-141).
