EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon volleyball team ranked 11th nationally and third among the season-high eight Pac-10 teams sighted in this week’s sixth edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll released Monday. UO (11-2, 1-2) trailed only No. 3 Washington (14-0, 4-0) and No. 7 Stanford (9-4, 2-1) in the “Conference of Champions”, which continued to dominate the weekly rankings. The other Pac-10 teams following UO included No. 13 USC (13-3, 2-2), No. 16 UCLA (12-5, 2-2), No. 15 California (8-5, 1-2), No. 22 Arizona (12-3, 1-3) and No. 25 Washington State (14-1, 3-1), while Oregon State (10-5, 1-2) also received votes for the second straight week. Overall in this week's sixth poll of the season, returning national champion Penn State (16-0) was tabbed first again with 48 of 60 possible first-place votes, while No. 2 Texas (11-0) followed in second place and had nine first-place votes. No. 3 Washington (14-0) picked up the other three first-place votes, and was followed by No. 4 Hawai'i (13-2), while the former fifth-ranked team Florida (11-2) dropped a spot to No. 6 behind No. 5 Minnesota. The complete poll is listed below, and more information on the AVCA and its polls are available at its www.AVCA.org website.
