SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Corban's men's soccer team opened the second half of the conference season with a victory over first-year conference member Northwest Christian, 4-0, behind a pair of goals from sophomore Mark Mendenhall and two assists from freshman Brendan McCornack on Thursday night.

For the sixth time this season, the Northwest Christian men's soccer team was held scoreless as they were defeated by rival Corban for the second time this season.

The host Beacons were out-shot 22-7 in the contest and were able to take only one shot on goal compared to the Warriors' 11.

Corban scored two goals in each half and had two goals from Mendenhall, who opened the contest with an unassisted score in the 14th minute.

The 6-foot-3 defender took the rebound off his own blocked shot and fired home the empty-net punch in for the eventual game-winner.

He would score again in the 72nd minute, firing a stunning long-range shot into the upper right corner that caught the defense off guard.

Senior Caleb Louvier and freshman Travis Wells also collected goals for the Warriors, with each score coming off a pass from McCornack.

Louvier scored the game's second goal in the 37th minute to give him a team-leading six goals this season, while Wells put his shot into the top of the net from ten-yards out with just 45 seconds remaining in the game therefore giving him two goals in the past two games.

Corban's sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Franklin made a return between the pipes following a two-game absence, played the entire time in net, and recorded a mere one save en route to securing the shut out.

On the other hand, NCC's net-minder Cuyler Zeigler registered a game-high eight saves but could not keep the Warriors' powerful offensive out of the net.

With the win, Corban evens its overall mark at 5-5-2 and 3-3-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

Meanwhile, Northwest Christian drops to 1-10-0 on the season, 1-7-0 in its first official season of CCC play.

The Warriors are next in action on Thursday, October 11th, when they continue Cascade Collegiate Conference play against Warner Pacific beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Portland.

Corban will be looking to avenge a loss, 4-2, earlier this season to the Knights at Warrior Field in Salem.
