CORVALLIS, Ore. - Members of the 2007 Oregon State baseball team will be a highlight of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Sunday at 8 p.m. PDT.

The team helped build a 4,000 square foot home in Lewisburg, Ore., for Rob and Rachel Byers and their 8-year-old daughter, Jenessa, who has a form of childhood cancer and is fighting a recurrence.

The program identifies situations where a family is in need of either a home renovation or a new home, then brings designers, carpenters and a television crew to the site to complete the job in a week.

A group from the team’s 2007 national championship club – including head coach Pat Casey, pitchers Eddie Kunz and Blake Keitzman, infielders Lonnie Lechelt and Brett Casey, outfielders Scott Santschi and Braden Wells, catchers Erik Ammon and Casey Priseman and manager Peter Hughes – traveled to Lewisburg in July to work on the home.

The team spent part of the day helping demolish the previous home after being given instructions to make sure safety was ensured, by bashing out windows with bats, and helping prepare the location for the new home.

Tune into ABC on Sunday night at 8 p.m. In the Corvallis area, tune into either channel 2 or channel 9 on Comcast Cable. In the Salem, Portland-area tune to channel 2 on Comcast Cable.
