SALEM, Ore. - Corban's women's soccer team had five players named to the 2007 All-Cascade Collegiate Conference team with a pair landing on both the 1st and 2nd team as well as one player earning honorable mention following the Warriors' second place finish in the conference standings this season. Seniors Sarah Whaley and Megan Waunch were honored as first team members, while junior Karyn Allen and senior Tosha Wilson were placed on the second team. Meanwhile, freshman Genessa Neeser was the lone Warrior to earn all-conference honorable mention following her first season donning the navy and gold. Whaley, a 5-foot-6 midfielder, concluded her final season as a Warrior with four assists while serving as one of the team's two captains. Waunch, a 5-foot-4 forward, tied for the team lead in goals with eight and handed out a pair of assists during her final season at Corban en route to concluding with 18 points. The senior tallied a pair of game-winning goals in victories over Northwest and Western Oregon. Waunch was also named conference and regional Offensive Player of the Week after her combined 3-goal, 1-assist performances against Northwest Christian and Westminster. Allen, a 5-foot-7 goalkeeper, appeared in 17 games between the pipes for the Warriors and registered a team-best 86 saves while allowing a mere 22 goals in 1,509 minutes. The junior net-minder ended the season with a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 1.31 and recorded a team-high five shutouts. Allen also earned conference Defensive Player of the Week three different times during the season. Wilson, a 5-foot-6 defender, anchored Corban's defense all season and scored her first collegiate goal in the Warriors' 6-1 victory over The University of Great Falls on September 8th in Great Falls, Montana. Neeser, a 5-foot-3 defender, teamed with Wilson to help anchor a Warrior defense. The freshman scored her first collegiate goal in helping Corban defeat Southern Oregon, 1-0, on September 13th and setting up the Warriors' chances of securing the conference tournament's No. 2-seed. This is Waunch's third time in four seasons to be named as a member of the all-conference 1st team, while Whaley finds herself on the all-conference team for the second time in her career after being named to the 2nd team following the 2005 season. For Allen and Wilson, this is the first time during their illustrious careers that either have been named to the all-conference team. For twelfth-year head coach Marty Ziesemer, who notched his 139th career victory this season to move into the top 10 all-time in NAIA history, the announcement gives him 68 total players that have been named to the all-conference team either as a member of the 1st team, 2nd team, or honorable mention. Corban concluded the 2007 season with an overall record of 10-9-0, 7-3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Source: Corban Sports Information
