SALEM, Ore. - Willamette University football Head Coach Mark Speckman will be one of three coaches featured this weekend on the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Spotlight on ABC-TV.

The 30-minute show will air on Saturday, Nov. 3 and will be shown at 4 p.m. (PDT) on KATU-TV in Portland, Ore.

Speckman is in his 10th season as the head coach of Willamette's football team. He was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1999 after coaching the team to the NWC title. He has twice led the Bearcats to the NCAA Division III national playoffs.

Also featured this week will be Art Briles, head coach at the University of Houston, and Dino Mangiero, head coach at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, N.Y.

A winner from each NCAA division will be selected in late December to receive the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award.

Each winner will earn $50,000 for his choice of a charity or charities. An additional $20,000 will go to the alumni association of the institution where each winning coach is employed.

The winning coach is determined in a mixture of fan voting, plus voting by selected members of the College Football Hall of Fame and the national media.

Twenty percent of the selection process will be provided by fan voting, with fifty-five percent from the Hall of Fame members and twenty-five percent from the national media. Each fan is allowed to vote on-line one time each day through Nov. 27.

The Bearcats face Lewis & Clark this weekend in Portland. Kickoff Saturday is set for 1 p.m. The game can be heard live on FullAccessSports.com
