Oregon Moves Up to No. 4 in AP, USA Today Polls

Ohio State, Boston College and LSU - all coming off wins - remain first through third, respectively, in the AP and USA Today indexes.

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon Ducks inched ahead one more spot in both the AP and USA Today Polls, coming in at No. 4 heading into next Saturday's home game against No. 6 Arizona State.

Oregon (7-1, 4-1 Pac-10) also garnered a first-place vote in the coaches poll, a first for the Ducks this season.

As was the case last week, when UO was tabbed fifth, the current ranking is the team's highest AP placement since ending the 2001 season at No. 2 after defeating Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl.

Oregon stayed at No. 5 in the BCS Standings and Harris Poll, although the Ducks closed the gap some between themselves and fourth-ranked ASU in terms of BCS average (.8493 to .8390).

After Saturday's 24-17 win over USC, Oregon remains the highest ranked Pac-10 institution in all but the BCS Standings. The Trojans dipped from ninth to 13th in the AP Top 25.

The Ducks face another huge test on Saturday, when they host the unbeaten Sun Devils (8-0, 5-0), in the second battle of top 10 teams at Autzen Stadium in as many weeks.

ESPN College GameDay will be setting up shop in Eugene for the second time this season prior to the contest.
