CCC Volleyball: Warriors Drop Heart-Breaker to Eastern Oregon

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Four different Warriors recorded double figure kill totals led by junior Rashelle Davenport's 12, but Corban's women's volleyball team dropped a heart-breaker, 3-2 (27-30, 30-28, 25-30, 30-23, 2-15), to the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon on Saturday inside the Quinn Coliseum.

After suffering its first road loss of the season last night versus The College of Idaho, Corban attempted to rebound but ran into a Mountaineer squad that hit .467 (8-1-15) in the fifth and final game to pull two games ahead of the Warriors in the conference standings with four matches remaining.

Along with Davenport, junior Chelsea Reeher and a duo of freshmen -- Kristen Eiler and Teri Braun -- recorded 11, 11, and 10 kills respectively.

Sophomore setter Amy Thompson handed out a match-high 40 assists, while senior Caylin Bankston anchored Corban's back line with a team-high 24 digs.

Eastern Oregon's Grace DeBoodt led all players with a match-high 21 kills, while Chelsea Lally and Jolene George added 17 and 9 kills respectively.

The Mountaineers' offense was ran by a duo of setters -- Alissa Clinton and Chelsea Herron -- that recorded a combined 61 assists with Clinton leading the way with a team-high 31.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kiley Cobb recorded a match-high 37 digs to anchor Eastern Oregon's back line.

Defensively, Corban recorded 10.0 team blocks led by Reeher's match-high five (1 solo, 4 assist), while Eastern Oregon had 9.0 team blocks of its own with DeBoodt registering a team-best four assist blocks.

With the loss, Corban evens its record at 11-11 overall, 9-7 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Eastern Oregon improves to 14-5 overall, 11-5 in CCC action.

The Warriors return to action on Friday, November 2nd, against the Knights of Warner Pacific beginning at 7:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
