REDMOND, Ore. - Dropping one stroke off their previous day’s score of 340 to shoot a 341 on Sunday for a final score of 681, the George Fox University Bruins slipped from a tie for sixth to seventh place as the Northwest Conference Men’s Golf Fall Classic came to its two-day conclusion here at the Juniper Golf Course. George Fox had been tied with Pacific Lutheran University after the first round and was only one shot behind fifth-place Whitman College, but was the only team unable to shave any strokes off its opening-day score. The University of Puget Sound maintained its first-day lead and won the Classic with a 320-312=632 on the par 72, 7,186-yard course. Pacific University broke a three-way tie for second and was the runner-up with a 330-309=639. Following in order were Linfield College at 330-314=644, Whitworth University at 330-319=649, Whitman at 339-323=662, Pacific Lutheran at 340-323=663, George Fox, Willamette University at 356-345=701, and Lewis & Clark College at 380-359=739. Max Bonk of Pacific, the first-day leader with a 73, carded a brilliant six-under-par 66 on Sunday and won the tournament with a 139, 12 strokes ahead Alex Fitch of Linfield, who shot a 76-75=151. Riley Conlin of Puget Sound took third with a 78-77=155, followed by Matt Kitto of Puget Sound at 81-75=156 and Andrew Welch of Whitman at 77-80-157. Aleks Gabrio, who shot a 78 on Saturday and was tied for fourth, had an 83 on Sunday and finished 10th with a 161 to lead the Bruins. Also counting on Sunday for George Fox were Austin Rowland, who had a 97-80=177 to tie for 31st; Chris Lumdsen with an 89-89=178 to tie for 36th, and Mike Ulstad with a 93-89=182, tied for 43rd. Kyle Wilson had the Bruins’ second-best overall score with an 84-90=174, tied for 29th, and Trevor Pielstick shot an 89-98=187 to tie for 48th. The NWC Fall Classic was the final match of the fall season for all the conference teams.
