EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon Ducks climbed two more spots in the latest college football AP Top 25, and five places in the BCS Standings to rank No. 5 in both polls.

It's UO's highest AP ranking since ending the 2001 season at No. 2 after defeating Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Ducks (6-1, 3-1 Pac-10) also improved their standing in the USA Today (coaches) rankings, coming in at No. 5, and in the Harris Poll, where they picked up two spots to place fifth.

The Harris Poll is utilized as part of the BCS standings along with the USA Today index and six computer rankings providers. The computers aren't nearly as enamored with the Ducks as the human pollsters and have Oregon tabbed as the ninth best team.

After Saturday's 55-34 win at Washington, Oregon is the highest of the four ranked Pac-10 teams in all but the BCS standings.

Idle Arizona State (7-0, 4-0), the only unbeaten team in the conference (overall record), is No. 7 in the AP and USA Today, and No. 8 in the Harris, but No. 4 in the BCS.

Ohio State is in the top spot in the BCS standings for a second straight week, while Boston College and LSU each moved up one spot to rank second and third, respectively.

The Ducks face their biggest challenge to date this season, when they host USC on Saturday, Oct. 27, in a battle of top 10 teams at Autzen Stadium.

The Trojans (6-1, 3-1) are currently ninth in the AP, eighth in the coaches, seventh in the Harris and 12th in the BCS Standings. USC was ranked No. 1 until an Oct. 6 loss to Stanford.
