Bearcat Women's Golf Team Hosts Willamette Valley Championship

The Willamette women's team will compete at the Whitworth Invitational on Oct. 10-11 in Spokane, Wash.

SALEM, Ore. - The Willamette University women's golf team finished in third place in the Willamette Valley Championship at Illahe Hills Country Club on Friday, Oct. 1. The Linfield College women's team captured first place and Pacific University finished second.

Brynn Hurdus of Linfield was the individual champion with a score of 79. Hurdus was followed closely by Valerie Kitamori of Pacific who shot an 81 to finish second. Hannah Christianson of Linfield was third with an 82. Brinn Hovde from Linfield took fourth place by shooting an 85.

Willamette's top finisher was Haylee Chung (So., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS). Chung carded an 88 and achieved fifth place.

Linfield led the team standings with a score of 335 to capture first place. Pacific shot 382 to take second place. The Bearcats rounded out the team scores in third place at 408.

Erin Barclay (Sr., Snohomish, WA/Bothell HS) carded a 103 to finish in 11th place. Sophomore Serena Cualoping (Manila, Philippines/International School) and Jessica D'Amato (Fr., Bellevue, WA) also competed for the Bearcats. They shot rounds of 105 and 112, respectively.
