Warner Pacific Breaks Through With 3-0 Shutout of Evergreen

Warner Pacific improves to 2-9-2 overall and 1-5 in CCC action

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Warner Pacific women’s soccer team earned their first Cascade Collegiate Conference win of the season with a 3-0 decision over Evergreen State today at David Douglas High School.

All three goals by the Knights came in the second half - two of them off the foot of forward Brittany Johnson. The sophomore scored her first in the 63rd minute with a driving 25 yard shot over the head of the Geoduck goalkeeper. Eight minutes later, Johnson tapped in a cross from Kelsey Messmer.

Stephanie DeBoer wrapped up the scoring for WP with a slotted shot to the right low corner in the 87th minute. Mila Miller provided the long ball pass.

Evergreen made Knight goalkeeper Nikita Rivera work for the shutout, cracking 9 shots on goal. Brianna Speed registered seven total shots – three on goal. Geoduck keeper Breana Ewoldt had 10 saves in the loss.

Warner Pacific improves to 2-9-2 overall and 1-5 in CCC action. Evergreen drops to 0-8-1 and 0-5.
