SAN DIEGO - The Miami Dolphins have acquired the second-round draft choice of the San Diego Chargers in the 2008 NFL Draft in exchange for wide receiver Chris Chambers.

Chambers, the Dolphins’ second-round draft choice in 2001, played in 100 games in his career with the team and caught 405 passes for 5,688 yards and 43 touchdowns. Through six games of 2007, he has totaled 31 receptions for 415 yards and no touchdowns.

"We want to thank Chris for his contributions during his tenure with the Dolphins," said General Manager Randy Mueller. "This trade will give some of our younger players at that position, such as Ted Ginn, Jr. and Derek Hagan, more of an opportunity this year. Chris did everything we asked of him and represented this organization in a first-class manner. We wish him and his family the best of luck in San Diego."
