NAMPA, Idaho - Freshman Naomi Shimabuku broke a scoreless tie at the 75-minute mark, leading Western Oregon to a 1-0 women's soccer win over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday in Nampa.

The win, the third for WOU in their last four outings, allowed them to improve to 3-6 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and 3-10-2 overall. Northwest Nazarene dropped to 4-5 in conference play and 7-6-1 overall.

The victory for the Wolves also avenged an earlier 3-0 loss to the Crusaders in Monmouth.

Shimabuku's goal came on a pass from Maggie Kuzmer to turn a tight match WOU's way at the 75:17 minute mark. Shots on goal for the match were even at 6-6, and NNU had a slight edge in overall shots at 11-7.

Another freshman, Kelsie Blachly, recorded the shutout in goal for WOU, her second of the season. Shimabuku's goal was her first as a collegian.
