SALEM, Ore. - For the fourth straight week, Corban's women's soccer team finds itself among the nation's elite according to the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) coaches' poll that was released Tuesday afternoon. After picking up its 10th win of the season on Friday against Warner Pacific and dropping a heart-breaker to the nation's top-ranked Concordia by a single goal twenty-four hours later, Corban moved up one spot to No. 34 in the country thanks to 26 total points. Sitting at 10-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, the Warriors join fellow league member and unbeaten Concordia in latest poll with the Cavaliers receiving their third straight No. 1 ranking thanks to 19 first-place votes and 650 total points. On Friday, Corban defeated Warner Pacific, 2-0, en route to securing its sixth shut out of the season and became the first Warrior team since 2007 to earn double-digit wins. This is also the second time in program history that Corban has begun a season with 10 wins in its first 13 games joining the 2002 team that concluded the season with a record of 19-8 and 13-2 in league play en route to finishing as the runner-up at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) tournament. Twenty-four hours later, Corban returned to the field to take on the No. 1-ranked Concordia. Despite falling by the final score of 2-1, the Warriors became the first team all season to hold a lead against the ranked Cavaliers thanks to a first half goal by freshman Tera McDonough (Boise, Idaho). The Warrior midfielder also became the first Corban player to score against Concordia in eight matches dating back to the 2004 season. Corban will look to continue its rise in the national poll this weekend against conference rival Northwest Christian and former Warrior, turned Beacon head coach Katie Casebeer on Saturday, October 16th, beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Warrior Field.
