LOS GATOS, Calif. - Los Gatos High School senior linebacker Kiko Alonso has made a verbal commitment to play at the University of Oregon, his father Carlos Alonso told the San Jose Mercury News.

Alonso, at 6-foot-3, 234 pounds, is among the leading tacklers in the Central Coast Section with 68 through five games for the Wildcats (4-0-1). He is also a threat offensively, with 17 receptions for 249 yards and two touchdowns at tight end.

Los Gatos head coach Butch Cattolico praised Alonso after he recorded 12 tackles and a sack in a 42-7 win over Palo Alto, saying it was perhaps the best defensive performance he has ever seen in his 21 years coaching the Wildcats.
