Oregon Trio Named to District All-Academic Team

It is just the second time in school history that Oregon has had three players named to the District 8 team.

EUGENE, Ore. - A trio of Oregon women’s soccer players have been named to the ESPN The Magazine all-academic District 8 teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Junior defender Darcie Gardner was named to the all-district second team, while junior goalkeeper Jessie Chatfield and junior defender Nicole Dobrzynski earned third team honors.

Gardner, from Bellingham, Wash., has a 3.81 grade point average in human physiology. She leads all Duck defenders with three goals and an assist for seven points. Gardner was a first team selection a year ago as a sophomore.

Chatfield, from Eugene, Ore., holds a 3.82 gpa in mathematics. Earlier this season, she became Oregon’s career leader in shutouts with 15 and wins with 25. She has an 8-7-3 record with a 1.41 goals against average so far in 2007.

Dobrzynski, from Danville, Calif., has started all 18 games at defender and has a 3.81 gpa in business administration.

Both Chatfield and Dobrzynski were second team honorees in 2006.
