SALEM, Ore. - In a game that saw both teams combine to record 45 turnovers, Corban's women's basketball team extended its winning streak over the Bearcats of Willamette to eight games thanks to a 63-54 victory Tuesday inside the C.E. The Warriors led the turnover race with 23, while Willamette committed 22 turnovers in the game. Corban came out and shot 13-for-28 (46.4%) in the opening half en route to securing a five-point lead (36-31) at halftime. In the second half, the Warriors hung on to the lead thanks to timely free throw shooting in the final minute-plus with Bostwick hitting all four of her shots from the charity stripe while junior Ashley Connell added a pair of free throws with 31 ticks left on the game clock to help secure the hard-fought nine-point victory. For Willamette, Molly Fillion led all players with 24 points and 19 rebounds while Tracy Nygaard and Jenny Fillion added 9 and 7 points respectively. As a team, Corban aided its winning cause shooting 23-for-55 (41.8%) from the field including 17-for-25 (68.0%) from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Willamette was 17-for-63 (27.0%) from the field, including the game's only three-pointers going 4-for-19 (21.1%) from beyond the arc, and 16-for-21 (76.2%) from the free throw line. With the win, Corban extends its winning streak to two games and improves to 2-3 on the season. Meanwhile, Willamette falls to 2-3 overall and has its mini-one-game winning streak snapped.
