PORTLAND, Ore. - In his first collegiate heavyweight match, senior Travis Gardner earned the meet’s only pin over Zack Smith in a time of 3:49, as the No. 24 Beavers defeated Pac-10 opponent, the Portland State Vikings 41-3 Tuesday evening. “Tonight was good to get out and wrestle in a match situation instead of wrestling against each other,” Oregon State head coach Jim Zalesky said. “It was also good to see what we need to work on and take it back.” The Beavers jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead after Portland State forfeited both at 125 and 133, giving juniors Jake Gonzales and Ryan Enoch automatic wins.
