Serna Named Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week

The Beavers travel to Washington State for a Northwest rivalry game against the Cougars on Saturday.

Alexis Serna kicked field goals of 51, 43, 34, 30 and 28 yards to make Oregon State bowl eligible with a wild 29-23 win over Washington on Saturday night.

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State senior placekicker Alexis Serna has been named this week’s Pacific-10 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. This is the sixth time Serna has been honored by the Pac-10.

Serna, the 2005 Lou Groza Award recipient, booted five field goals and accounted for 17 points as the Beavers defeated Washington 29-23 to become bowl eligible for the seventh time in nine years.

Serna, the active leader in the NCAA and OSU and Pac-10 record holder with 78 field goals made, finished his career against the Huskies 18-for-18 on field goals and accounted for 61 points in his four meetings with the Dawgs and was earned Pac-10 honors after each contest.

The semi-finalist for the Groza Award this year, Serna has been on fire of late making 12 of his last 13 attempts and 16 of 20 this season.

The Beavers travel to Washington State for a Northwest rivalry game against the Cougars at Martin Stadium. Saturday’s game will be televised by FSN NW and Fox College Sports (FCS) with kickoff scheduled for 3:35 p.m.
