MONMOUTH, Ore. - Leada Berkey scored 24 points and Western Oregon led from start to finish as the Wolves won a 79-66 women's basketball exhibition over Concordia on Friday night at the Physical Education Building. It was WOU's second exhibition game of the year, and they will play one more at Oregon State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. For Concordia, the game was a counter and the Cavaliers fell to 1-2 on the season. The Wolves jumped out to a 11-2 lead in the first three minutes of the contest and would go to post a 47-35 halftime margin. But Concordia would cut WOU's lead to three points on three different occasions in the second half, the last time with 13 minutes to go in the game. Western Oregon would answer on a lay-up and free throw by Shayla Corder, and the Cavaliers would get no closer than six points again. Berkey hit 8 of 13 shots and nailed all six of her free throw attempts on her way to 24 points. Katie Torlund added 14 points on 7 of 10 shooting and Corder was also in double figures with 13 points. Allison Crumb had seven assists and six points and Sara Zahler led in the rebounding department with seven. The Wolves out-rebounded the Cavaliers (42-31). Concordia had two players in double figures: Danielle Clauson with 14 and Maryam Razavi with 11. Source: Western Oregon Athletics
