Huge Second Half Propels Spurs Over Hornets

Game 4 in San Antonio is set for Sunday.

The San Antonio Spurs overcame a 35-point effort by Chris Paul to beat New Orleans 110-99 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals series at the AT&T Center on Thursday.

SAN ANTONIO - The Spurs responded in the second half of a game they needed to have.

Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker each poured in 31 points as San Antonio overcame a 35-point effort by Chris Paul to beat New Orleans 110-99 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals series at the AT&T Center on Thursday.

Neither team has won on the road in this series. With the Spurs' win, the home teams are 10-0 in the four conference semifinal series.

The Spurs entered Thursday's game trailing 2-0 after lackluster efforts in the two previous meetings in New Orleans. San Antonio trailed at the half by two points in this one before Ginobili and Parker ignited things in the second half.

The Spurs closed the third quarter on a 10-5 run to take an 83-78 lead into the fourth. Parker, who also had 11 assists, tallied 11 points in the third and Tim Duncan posted nine of his 16 points in the quarter. Duncan also finished with 13 rebounds.

In the fourth, Ginobili scored the Spurs’ first seven points, including a pair of 3-pointers. His second trey made it 90-84 with 10:16 left and triggered an 11-4 run that stretched the lead to 13 with 5:57 left.

Paul also had nine assists and David West posted 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Hornets.

Game 4 in San Antonio is set for Sunday. Tip-Off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
