CORVALLIS, Ore. - Senior Paige Lowe (Tustin, Calif.) belted one over left field on the first pitch seen in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Oregon State softball team to a 5-4 walk-off win over No. 9 Arizona State on Thursday afternoon.

Lowe, who had already been nearly perfect with a 2-for-3 performance, posted her first four-RBI game of the season tallying a pair with her homer on top of her back-to-back RBI single at bats.

“Any win is a good win, but this one was particularly exciting,” head coach Kirk Walker said. “The comeback had our seniors’ fingerprints all over it.”

The Beavers (25-28, 4-15) started senior weekend off with a bang with an early 2-0 lead behind senior Stefanie Ewing’s (Scottsdale, Ariz.) solo homer in the second and P. Lowe’s RBI single to right center, scoring her sister, sophomore McKenna Lowe (Tustin, Calif.) in the third.

Arizona State (38-16, 8-11) took a two-run lead in the top of the fifth on Krista Donnenwirth’s three-run shot to left field after scoring one earlier in the inning. But Oregon State pulled back to within one when P. Lowe tallied another RBI in the bottom of the inning to score M. Lowe on a single to left center.

The score remained the same through the next inning and a half before pinch hitter junior Tarah Black (Portland Ore.) reached as the tying run on a blooper single over the pitcher’s head to allow P. Lowe to quickly clear the bases and end the game in favor of the Beavers.

Junior Kelly Dyer (Eugene, Ore.) threw the complete game for the Beavers, earning her 11th win to improve to 11-17 on the season. She caught three looking and scattered nine hits on 31 batters faced.

Donnenwirth led the Sun Devil offense with a 2-for-3 day with three RBI on her home run. Pitcher Hillary Bach was charged with the complete game loss, making her record 23-9.
