MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Oregon will try and secure a seventh consecutive Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship and eighth straight league title overall when they host Montana State Billings this Friday and Saturday at the WOU Baseball Field.

The Wolves hold a two-game lead over second place Central Washington and both the Wolves and Wildcats have four games remaining.

For the third consecutive week, the Wolves came very close to winning all four games of a series. After taking 7-2 and 14-1 games against Saint Martin's on Saturday, the Wolves locked up with the Saints in a Sunday marathon that went 12 innings. WOU led 2-1 heading into the bottom half of the 12th, but the hosts rallied for a pair of runs and the win. The Wolves then bounced back to take the nightcap (6-1). WOU's pitching was stellar again over the weekend. WOU starting pitchers allowed just four runs in 27.1 innings of work.

Centerfielder Dylan Bruck has just one year of eligibility at WOU, leaving Wolves wishing for more as the Wilsonville native puts together a record-breaking year. The former San Jose State and Chemeketa CC standout broke the GNAC single-season record for stolen bases last weekend with his 36th theft of the season. That total is also the second highest mark for a season at WOU. Joey Price previously held the top three single-season marks at WOU: 37 in 2000, 34 in 2002 and 31 in 2001. Bruck also currently shares the WOU top spot for triples in a season with six, and he is tied for second in doubles with 19. His .404 batting average would rank sixth all-time if the season ended today.

Western Oregon vs Montana State Billings - Friday and Saturday. First pitch at 1 p.m. and noon.
