FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - The Atlanta Falcons today re-signed six-year veteran quarterback Joey Harrington.

The quarterback was released by the team last week. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, his return comes with a restructured contract.

Harrington, 6-4, 222 pounds, joined the Falcons on April 9, 2007 and started in 10 games last season. He completed 215 of 348 passes (61.8) for 2,215 yards and seven touchdowns. In his third game against the Carolina Panthers, Harrington totaled 361 yards, which was the highest passing total in a game for the Falcons since October 22, 2006 (414 yards).

His 262 yards in the first half against the Panthers also marked a new career-high. The following week against the Houston Texans (Week 4), Harrington completed 79.3 percent of his passes (23 of 29), which sits as the fourth highest total in a single-game in franchise history for a starting quarterback behind Steve Bartkowski’s top three totals (85.7, 82.6 and 82.6).

Harrington has completed 1,459 of 2,538 career passes for 14,693 yards and 79 touchdowns. He was released by the Falcons on March 5, 2008 prior to being re-signed by the team.
