Western Oregon won the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl over Colorado School of Mines 26-12, to finish the season 9-2.

MONMOUTH, Ore. - The 2008 Western Oregon football schedule was announced on Tuesday by WOU athletic director Jon Carey.

The Wolves will play 11 games, which includes eight conference contests in the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Western Oregon will also play non-conference contests against Portland State, Southern Oregon and Linfield.

The opener at PGE Park against the Vikings is set for August 30.

The GNAC brings back football in 2008, with WOU, Western Washington, Central Washington, Humboldt State and Dixie State playing each other twice each.

While the conference still does not have enough football-playing members to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Division II playoffs, this gives WOU more Division II games than they had on their schedule this past season.

The winner of the GNAC, if they do not qualify for the playoffs, will go to the Dixie Rotary Bowl in St. George, Utah. Western Oregon won that bowl game this past season over Colorado School of Mines 26-12, to finish the season 9-2.
