Raiders Survive Northwest Scare

The Raiders shot 29 percent in the first half and finished the gameshooting 32 percent. The Raiders host Evergreen State Saturday night.

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Southern Oregon women’s basketball team overcame an inconsistent offense as they knocked off Northwest 68-64 in overtime tonight at McNeal Pavilion.

Southern Oregon improves to 16-4 overall and 8-3 in Cascade Conferenceplay with the victory. Northwest dropped 6-14 overall and 4-7 inconference action.

Junior Whitney Scott led SOU with 22 points. Rhiannon Dickison finishedwith 15 points, while Jacki Speer had 14 points and 11 rebounds. EmilyBrookins also had 11 points for the Raiders. Rachel Mitchell finished with 19 points for the Eagles.

After Northwest tied the game with a free throw to send it to overtime,the Raiders took control in the extra five minutes. A jumper by Speer and a 3-pointer by Scott gave the Raiders a 62-58lead with 2:21 to play.

The Eagles trimmed the lead to one with 30 seconds to play, but Scottwent 3-for-4 from the line in the final seconds to ice the game.
