SALEM, Ore. - Current Shelton High School senior and Cascade Conference co-Most Valuable Player Brittany Bowman (Shelton, Wash.) signed her Letter of Intent last week, and will begin playing women's soccer at Corban College next season, as announced by thirteen-year head coach Marty Ziesemer.

Bowman, who attends Mary M. Knight High School, played soccer for Shelton High School due to the fact that there are not enough students to field a girls' soccer program at Mary M. Knight High School.

"I am thrilled to have Brit join the Corban program," Ziesemer said. "She is not only a great player that will have help us right away, but she is also a person of excellent character who will enhance our team in many ways."

As a 2007 senior, Bowman scored 12 goals and handed out three assists en route to being named 1st team all-state. Following both her junior and senior campaigns, Bowman earned all-area recognition, while earning Cascade Conference Co-MVP honors after leading the league in scoring her senior season.

"I chose Corban because I liked the Christian environment and the people I met there," said Bowman. "It's also a great opportunity to play soccer."

Bowman, a 5-foot-2 midfielder/forward, helped guide Shelton High School to the district playoffs for the first time in several years during her 2007 senior season.

"Brit is a great kid with a ton of heart and ability," commented Brett Bartlett, head girls' varsity coach at Shelton High School. "She will never back down from a challenge. She is smart, well rounded, hardworking and humble."

Besides her high school accolades, Bowman also played club soccer for Black Hills Soccer Club. While competing at the club level, Bowman helped guide Black Hills to the 2007 Nike/Crossfire Cup and Baker Blast Tournament championships.

"Brit will be a great asset to the (women's soccer) team and (Corban) College," said Dave Cross, Black Hills Soccer Club head coach. "Her speed, determination and foot skill will force other teams to deal with her defensively. She will have an immediate and positive impact."

Bowman joins fellow incoming freshman Amanda Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) as the first two members of the Class of 2012 for the women's soccer program.

Corban's women's soccer program has 15 players returning from last season's team that finished the season at 10-9-0, including 7-3-0 in conference play.
