PORTLAND, Ore. - The Willamette University men's basketball game at Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, January 17th was suspended at halftime due to a power outage. Lewis & Clark held a 35-32 lead at the intermission. Electrical power went out during halftime and was not expected to be restored until very late Saturday night. Willamette will return to Portland on Monday, January 19th to resume the game. Tipoff for the second half is tentatively scheduled for 7:00 PM (PST), pending approval by the Northwest Conference office. Details from the First Half: The Bearcats scored six of the game's first eight points and held an 18-6 lead at the 12:14 mark of the opening period. Cameron Mitchell (Jr., Post, Portland, OR/Grant HS/U. of Redlands) recorded six points and Nick Babij (Sr., G, Ontario, OR/Ontario HS) tallied four points during the early run. Lewis & Clark registered the next seven points to start a 21-5 offensive surge. The Pioneers were in front 27-23 with 6:00 left in the half. Kyler McClary (Sr., Post, Hillsboro, OR/Glencoe HS) hit two free throws for Willamette at the 5:27 mark, but L&C scored the next six points to claim a 33-25 led. Willamette closed the half with a 7-2 run to pull within three points. Marcus Holmes (So., PG, Seattle, WA/Garfield HS) opened the run with a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 3:32 left in the period. James Hollins went 1 for 2 for L&C at the line with 1:42 to go. Kyler McClary (Sr., Post, Hillsboro, OR/Glencoe HS) scored on a hook shot for the 'Cats 16 seconds later to cut the margin to 34-30. Josh Kollasch of L&C sank 1 of 2 charity shots with 56 seconds on the clock. McClary provided the final points of the period on a layup with 36 seconds to go. Kollasch was the only player for either team in double figures when the game was postponed. He had 11 points on 3 of 7 field goal shooting and was 4 for 5 at the line. Tyson Papenfuss followed with nine points for the Pioneers. Mitchell and McClary each scored eight points for WU in the first half. Mitchell also grabbed five rebounds to lead all players. Willamette shot 56.5% from the field (13 of 23), but committed nine turnovers and had only seven free throw attempts (5 of 7). L&C hit just 31.0% on field goals (9 of 29). The Pioneers were 14 of 18 at the line, grabbed seven offensive boards and lost the ball only four times.
