KIRKLAND, Wash. - NU's Brittany Bowsher's tip in off a missed shot with 2 seconds to go gave Northwest University a narrow, 56-55 Cascade Conference victory over Northwest Christian U. tonight.

After a first half that saw four ties and five lead changes, Northwest Christian took a slim, 33-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The second half was no different than the first as the game was tied six times and the lead changed hands five times.

Northwest Christian would take a 44-40 lead at the 9:35 mark on a lay-up by and two free throws by the Beacons Elise Gray, but Northwest's Carleigh Newman would tie the game once again at 46 with her offensive rebound and put back with 7:31 to go.

The game would go back and forth until Elise Gray would put NWCU up, 55-52 with 2:25 left in the game but Brittany Bowsher, making a come back after knee surgery this summer, brought Nu to within one point, 55-54 with 30 seconds left in the contest.

A crucial turnover by Northwest Christian with 17 seconds on the clock gave the ball back to Northwest U. After a time out by NU, Rachel Mitchell shot with 7 seconds left missed the mark and was rebounded by Bowsher near the basket who put the ball in with 2 ticks on the clock, giving the Eagles the win.

Northwest U.'s (6-13, 406 CCC) Rachel Mitchell (Senior, North Bend, Wash.) led the Eagles with 12 points and 5 assists. Senior Brittany Bowsher (Issaquah, Wash.) finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds and freshman Carleigh Newman (Ferndale, Wash.) dropped in 10 points for Northwest U. NU shot 37% from 2 point range and 41% from the 3-point line.

Northwest Christian (6-13, 1-9 CCC) was led by senior Elise Gray's (Eugene, Ore.) game high 15 points and 6 rebounds. McKenzie Gambee (Sr., Junction City, Ore.) added 11 points and 9 rebounds for the Beacons. NWCU managed to shoot 35% for the game and 21% from beyond the 3-point arc.

Northwest U. will be on the road next weekend as they travel to Ashland and Klamath Falls, Oregon to take on Southern Oregon U. and Oregon Tech on January 23rd and 24th. Northwest Christian will also be on the road as they play Corban College and Concordia U. next Friday and Saturday.
