Oregon State Linebacker Headed to East-West Game

Doggett concluded his career with 235 tackles, including a team-leading 93 in 2007.

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Derrick Doggett, one of the best linebackers in the history of the Oregon State University football program, has joined former teammate Kyle DeVan on the West team for this Saturday’s 83rd East-West Shrine Game at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The game will kickoff at 4 p.m. PST and air on ESPN 2.

Doggett was a three-time Pac-10 Conference Second Team selection and was the 2007 Emerald Bowl Defensive Most Valuable Player.

The ’07 co-team captain started 32 career games, including 27 straight. He concluded his career with 235 tackles, including a team-leading 93 in 2007. He finished his regular season career by being named the Pac-10’s Defensive Player of the Week for his 18-tackle performance, the fifth-most in school history, in the Beavers’ double overtime victory at then No. 18 Oregon in December.

DeVan started 38 consecutive games at center. He was a Pac-10 Honorable Mention pick in 2005 and 2007 and Second Team in 2006. He also was a Pac-10 Academic selection three straight years.

Former Beavers Roy Schuening (OT) and Alexis Serna (PK) will represent the program at the Senior Bowl Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.

Jeff Van Orsow, Gerard Lawson and Yvenson Bernard played in last weekend’s Hula Bowl, which included Mike Riley, Danny Langsdorf, Mark Banker and Mike Cavanaugh on the coaching staff.
