WOU Track & Field: Track and Field at the UW Winter Preview‏

SEATTLE - The Western Oregon University track and field team earned five event wins, set two school-records and garnered an NCAA provisional qualifying mark Saturday, Dec. 6th at the UW Winter Preview.

Chris Reed set the Wolves' all-time record and earned an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 5000m as he finished in 14:51.23. This topped the previous school-record by nearly 20 seconds and beat his personal best by 31 seconds.

Ashley Berry finished second in the 800m dash with a time of 2:18.32 as she improved on her own school-record. She was just over one second (2:17.30) from earning the WOU's second provisional qualifying standard of the afternoon.

Western Oregon finished first, second and fourth in the men's mile. Zeke Van Patten set a personal-best and placed himself fourth on the school's all-time list with a mark of 4:15.84. Jeff Long earned fifth place on the all-time list as he placed second in the mile with a time of 4:16.90. Matt McCrary also set a personal-record with a 4:24.18 en route to finishing fourth.

Senior Zeb Udell leaped 22-9.25 (6.94m) in the long jump to capture the event title at the UW Winter Preview. The mark is the sixth best in school-history. Udell was an All-America for the Wolves in the pole vault last season.

Annan Applebee won the only event of the day for the women as she posted a time of 1:19.56 in the 500m dash.

Andy Loscutoff won the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.51 to place fourth on the Wolves' all-time list. He also set a personal-best time in the 200m dash with a time of 23.13.

Ashtin Mott placed second in the 200m as he posted a 22.61. This time was good for eighth place on Western Oregon's all-time list.

The Western Oregon men's 4x400m relay team of Blake Estep, Loscutoff, Mott and Udell won the event as they raced around the track in the time of 3:24.07.

Robert Barrett placed second in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 50-11.50 (15.53), as he set a personal-best mark.

Lyndsey McKillip finished second in the mile with a time of 5:18.25 as she moved into sixth place in WOU history in the event. Jackie Dent finished third in the mile with a mark of 5:25.53.

Jessica Harper earned third place at the UW Winter Preview and moved into second place in school-history in the 3000m with a time of 10:16.19.

Ali Mosher placed her name in fifth place on the Wolves' all-time list in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.62.

"This meet today helps us set up our training for the rest of the season," said head coach Mike Johnson. "We will now go back to training for our meet January 17 in Seattle."

The Jan. 17th meet will be the Western Oregon track and field team's next race as it takes a five-week competition hiatus.
