Haruguchi and Rawlings Qualifies For NCAA’s In 200 Fly

The Beavers finished the evening with a fifth place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:26.83. The group consisted of Haruguchi, Crandall, Iverson and Rawlings.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Kayla Rawlings and Saori Haruguchi of the Oregon State women’s swim team became the first two swimmers on the team to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 200 butterfly during the final day of competition at the Husky Invitational. The Beavers finished the invitational in fourth with 1,004 points.

Oregon State showed its strength in the 200 butterfly with Haruguchi winning the event with a time of 1:54.88, taking nine seconds off her preliminary time, while Rawlings finished in fourth in 1:58.95 and setting a new personal record. Rachael Wahl finished the event in fifth, 2:00.12, setting a new personal record and moving into fourth on the Oregon State all-times list, while Brittney Iverson finished in sixth with a time of 2:02.24.

Katherine Hagan began the afternoon by moving into fourth on the all-time list in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:07.76, also setting a new personal record and slicing 28 seconds off her previous time set back in the 2007-08 season.

Jenni Dole moved into second on the Oregon State all-time list in the 200 backstroke by finishing the event in 2:00.02, setting a new personal record, while Anna Heller moved into fourth on the list with a time of 2:02.70, also setting a new personal record.

Finishing off the weekend by continuing to break records was Anna Crandall moving into third on the all-time list in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.95 seconds.

Oregon State takes to the pool again Friday, Dec. 19th, when the swim team takes on Florida Atlantic and Northern Arizona in Boca Raton, Fla.
