University of Oregon Softball Holiday Camp Approaching Fast

EUGENE, Ore. - There’s only three weeks remaining before University of Oregon softball head coach Kathy Arendsen and the UO staff host the Oregon Softball Holiday Camp for area softball players.

The two-day camp will be held Thursday-Friday, December 27-28, and will include instruction on fundamental and advanced skills for ages 10 and up. The camp will be held in the all-weather Moshofsky Sports Center that houses a full-size football practice field and two batting cages and is used for indoor practice by the Duck varsity teams.

The camp staff will include Arendsen and her staff, high school and college coaches and Oregon softball student-athletes are likely to be on-hand.

The Thursday-Friday format between the holiday weekends will give local players a convenient chance to hone their softball skills in-between their various holiday plans.

Once campers sign up, they will receive an email confirmation with hotel and other important information for camp.

Available Sessions:

Session 1 - Choose between Pitching Mechanics or Defensive Skills 1

Session one allows a player to choose between defensive skills or pitching mechanics. Both of these sessions will improve your technique and ultimately make you a better player.

The pitching session will focus on the proper mechanics which form a base to enable the pitcher to throw advanced pitches. The defensive skills session will demonstrate the basics of fielding and throwing - essential elements in being a complete player.

Session 2 - Offensive Skills 1

Session two will cover offensive skills focusing on the “absolutes”, mechanics and drills to help improve a player’s offensive capabilities. The latest teaching echnology will be used to polish your swing.

Session 3 - Choose between Pitching Spins or Defensive Skills 2

Session three again allows the athlete to choose between defense or pitching instruction. Defensive techniques, positioning and drills will be highlighted. You will be one step ahead of the competition after attending this session. Pitching will cover how to throw the rise, drop, curve and change up - all essential elements to be the complete pitcher at the top level.

Session 4 - Offensive Skills 2

This session highlights situational hitting and drill work to improve a hitter’s offensive productivity. Learn how to drive in more runs and give your team that winning edge.
