OSU Wrestling Comes Up Short against Cal State Fullerton

Oregon State takes a three-week break before returning to competition against No. 11 Nebraska on Friday, January 4th at 7:00 PM.

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Oregon State wrestling team was able to nab three matches but came up short against Cal State Fullerton, 29-12, on Sunday afternoon. The Beavers’ record falls to 5-1, 3-1 Pac-10, while the Titans improve to 2-2, 2-1 Pac-10.

Junior Jake Gonzales (Enumclaw, Wash.) won the first match for Oregon State at 125 pounds, recording his first technical fall of the season over Andre Gonzales, 20-3, in a time of 6:21. Gonzales emerged as the the only Beaver wrestler to post a perfect 6-0 record in duals on the season.

Sophomores Dan Brascetta (Aurora, Colo.) and Keegan Davis (Salem, Ore.) wrapped up the meet earning the other two wins for the Beavers at 157 and 165 pounds.

Brascetta posted a 9-7 decision in overtime to defeat Devin Velasquez, while Davis earned his third major decision of the season, 10-2, over Teddy Bristol.
