FOREST GROVE, Ore. - After staying with a powerful Lewis-Clark State squad for the first 20 minutes, the Boxers found themselves unable to solve a stifling pressure defense in the second half as the Warriors shut down the Boxers 86-52 in women's basketball action at the Pacific Athletic Center.

Pacific (1-4) led by as much as six early in the first half thanks in part to 46 percent shooting from the field, but could muster only five field goals in the second stanza and turned the ball over 21 times as the Warriors (8-2) surged to build a 30-point lead midway through the period. Pacific shot 32 percent (19-59) for the contest and went 6 of 21 from three-point range.

Lewis-Clark State, the No. 12-ranked team at the NAIA Division I level, shot 49 percent (35-71) from the field and 8 of 23 from long range.

Christine Kim was the only Pacific player to score in double figures, scoring 10 points, while Ashley Bellamy finished one point short of a double-double with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Mandy Troutt and Lacie Titmus led six Warriors in double figures as both finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Brieanna Gaines scored 12 points; Jade Fulbright added 11 while Vanessa West and Sadie Short each scored 10.

Pacific appeared to be a much different team in the first half than the team that lost by 34 to the Warriors to open the season. The Boxers hit five of their first eight shots, taking an 11-5 lead on Kristina Stevens' lay-in at the 14:41 mark.

The Warriors responded with a 7-2 run to come within one and took their first lead of the game, 17-15, on Gaines' three-pointer with 10:20 remaining.

After Holly Saito tied the game on the next basket, the Warriors embarked on a13-2 run, culminating on Short's jumper, to build a 30-19 lead with 5:27 to go.

The Boxers trailed by 10 when Kim's trey sparked an 8-4 run over the final two points to reduce the Lewis-Clark State advantage to 40-34 at the break.

The Warriors employed a suffocating full court press to hold the Boxers to just two points over the first six minutes of the second half and just two field goals in the first 10 minutes.

Lewis-Clark State took a 56-34 lead on a Madison Mendezona three-pointer four minutes into the half, capping a 14-0 run.

Stevens finally put Pacific on the board with a pair of free throws at the 15:42 mark and Kim put in the Boxers' first field goal of the stanza with a three-pointer at the 13:04 mark.

After Jenna Archibald reduced the lead to 15 with 12:03 remaining, the Warriors embarked on 15-0 run over the next four minutes, going up 71-41 on a Kenna Reiter free throw. The Warriors built their biggest lead of 37 points on a Titmus lay-in with 44 seconds left.

After a break for fall semester finals, the Boxers will hit the road for three games to wrap-up the non-conference portion of their schedule.

The Boxers play at Corban on Dec. 15 before traveling to Hawaii to face Schreiner on Dec. 19 and Morningside on Dec. 20 at the Hoop N Surf Classic. Lewis-Clark State will play Lewis & Clark on Saturday in a pair of like-named foes.
