OLYMPIA, Wash. - Here is a recap of Corban men's and women's basketball games played Friday night.

Geoducks Knock Off Warrior Men, 84-71

Junior Wade Douglas, senior Hannes Gehring, and freshman Ian Logan each scored 10-plus points, but Corban's men's basketball team fell to the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College, 84-71, Friday night inside the Green House.

Douglas led the Warriors with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Gehring and Logan added 12 points each as Corban opened the 2007-08 Cascade Collegiate Conference season with a setback to the host Geoducks.

The Warriors' second leading scorer -- senior Ben Sisler -- was held to a mere four points on 1-for-6 shooting from the field including 0-for-2 from beyond the three-point line.

On the boards, Logan aided Douglas' game-high cause with nine rebounds of his own while Gehring and Sisler pulled down four boards each to go along with Douglas' team-high two assists.

For Evergreen, Nathan Menefee led all players with 24 points while Julio Feliciano, David Howard, and Nick Moore added 14, 11, and 11 points respectively.

With the loss, Corban falls to 2-4 overall, 0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The Warriors will conclude its conference opening weekend in the state of Washington on Saturday, when Corban goes head-to-head with the Eagles of Northwest University beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Kirkland, Washington.

Evergreen Takes Down Lady Warriors in OT

Even though sophomore Emily Goette and senior Jessica Steigleman scored 21 and 20 points respectively, Corban's women's basketball team fell in overtime, 70-65, to the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College Friday inside the Green House.

Trailing by seven points (33-26) at halftime, Corban came out and outscored its opponent by the identical margin -- seven points (35-28) -- to force an extra period. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the host Geoducks scored five more points (9-4) in the overtime period en route to securing a Cascade Collegiate Conference opener victory in one of three conference games that went into an extra frame Friday.

Along with the duo of Goette and Steigleman, junior Ashley Connell was the only other Warrior to score in double figures with 10 points. On the boards, Steigleman led Corban with eight rebounds while Goette, freshman Jenessa Miller, and senior Mandy Peterson pulled down 6, 5, and 5 boards respectively.

For Evergreen, Jennifer Solberg led all players with 22 points and 17 rebounds while Rosalind Lee added 13 points and 11 boards.

With the loss, Corban falls to 2-4 on the season, 0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The Warriors continue their conference play in the state of Washington on Saturday, against the Eagles of Northwest University beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Kirkland, Washington.
