CORVALLIS, Ore. - Brittney Davis and Ashley Allen both scored 18 points to pace the Oregon State women’s basketball team, but the Beavers lost to Idaho State, 79-73, Monday night at legendary Gill Coliseum.

“They were a very good opponent,” head coach LaVonda Wagner said. “They came out in the second half and attacked us early, and we came out in the second half and got into foul trouble.”

For Davis, the 18 points were a career-high, surpassing the 13 she scored against San Francisco on Dec. 2. The Portland native has now scored in double-digits in three straight games after finishing with 10 against Southern Utah Nov. 26.

Meanwhile, Allen posted her fifth straight game in double figures. She has led or tied for the team lead in scoring in six of the team’s seven games this season.

Talisa Rhea also scored 15 for Oregon State (4-3 overall).

Natalie Doma posted a double-double for the Bengals, who improved to 6-3 this season. Doma finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds to pace Idaho State in both categories. Andrea Lightfoot added 15 points and five rebounds.

The game’s statistics were virtually even, with Idaho State grabbing 35 rebounds to Oregon State’s 33. The Beavers blocked four shots – two by Brittany Eskridge – and posted 17 assists, including a season-high eight by Mercedes Fox-Griffin.

Oregon State held the lead, 61-58, until the 6:40 mark when Doma scored one of her three three-pointers. The game see-sawed from there on, with the Bengals grabbing the lead for good at the 2:19 mark on another three-pointer, this one from Kaylynn Fager.

Idaho State was 11-of-20 from beyond the three-point line while Oregon State was 5-of-18, with both Rhea and Allen making two apiece.

Oregon State led at the half, 36-27, with Allen, Davis and Rhea each scoring nine points apiece. The Beavers out-rebounded Idaho State, 19-13, after recording eight on the offensive boards. Tiffany Ducker and Stacey Nichols were especially effective on the boards in the half, collecting six apiece.

Nichols ended the game with a team-high nine rebounds, while Ducker grabbed eight to go with eight points.

Both teams were relatively hot from the floor in the first half, with the Beavers connecting on nearly 47 percent of their shots as opposed to Idaho State’s 43.5 shooting.
