CORVALLIS, Ore. - Jordan Harris helped lead the Oregon State men’s soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Humboldt State with his two goals in the third period, Saturday. “We emphasized a few things and the guys preformed well,” head coach Dana Taylor said. “The level of competition was high and our movement of the ball was sharp.” Ryan Callahan led off the scoring for the Beavers with his first unassisted goal of the season during the 15th minute in the first period. Robby Christner followed with a goal of his own during a penalty kick in the 17th minute to put the Beavers up 2-0. Tracy Hasson rounded out the scoring with the final goal of the first period to give the Beavers a 3-0 lead. The shutout for the Beavers began with Mike Miller, who saw 30 minutes of playing time in the first period, between the posts. Steve Spangler took over in the second period and tallied a save before Mike McLeod finished the game in the third period with a save of his own. The Beavers strong defense held the Lumberjacks to only six shots, one in the first period, two in the second and three in the third. The exhibition entailed of three 30-minute periods to ensure players received equal playing time. The Beavers will finish the exhibition part of their schedule Saturday, August 23, against Trinity Western at 7:30 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field. Source: Oregon State University Sports
