Portland State Picked Second in Preseason Poll

PSU finished 2006 with an overall record of 21-7.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland State Volleyball was selected to finish second in the Big Sky Conference in the 2007 pre-season coaches poll.

The Vikings received 53 points, 11 behind the unanimous choice for first place, Sacramento State.

Despite the loss of three starters and the increasingly difficult conference, Portland State is still favored to finish in the top two.

Portland State graduated Big Sky Most Valuable Player Jessica Brodie, Jessica Frederick, and Sarah Sirianni.

However, Dominique Fradella(So., S) Big Sky Outstanding Freshman of the Year will be returning along with Lindsey Steele(Jr., OH), Michelle Segun(Robertson)(Sr., MB), and Jacqueline Thomas(Jr., DS).

The Vikings will be under the direction of new head coach Michael Seemann in 2007.

Portland State has finished second in the Big Sky final standings the past two years.

In 2006, they finished 14-2 in the conference with losses only to conference champion Sacramento State and third-place Eastern Washington. PSU finished 2006 with an overall record of 21-7.
