WILSONVILLE, Ore. - In the midst of controversy about the future plans of Brett Favre, one of the NFL's all-time great quarterbacks, EA sports is launching the highly anticipated Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Edition video game, featuring Favre on the cover. With both headlines grabbing the attention of people across the country, national video game retailer Game Crazy conducted a national survey to uncover what people think Favre should do.

Take the Field or Hit the Couch?

While Favre seems to be leaning toward a return to the NFL, the American public surely has its own opinion. As everyone eagerly awaits the August 12th release of the game, Game Crazy set out to determine if Americans think Favre should return to the NFL or stay retired. According to the survey, people are split down the middle, with 53% feeling Favre is better off "benched" at home playing video games instead of returning to the NFL with the Green Bay Packers or another team. Surprisingly, those in the Midwest, home of the Green Bay Packers, are even more adamant about Favre staying home, with 59% of respondents from the region encouraging him not to come back.

He's Got the Looks

Over the past 15 years, Favre has become known not only for his unrivaled skills as the franchise quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, but also for his rugged good looks. So, would Americans think the football stud looks better on the field or on the cover of Madden 09? It was nearly a tossup, as 55% of Americans would rather see Favre making killer passes on the football field.

Get in the Game

While the great debate on Favre's future continues, it's clear that Americans have a strong opinion when it comes to his new debut as video game cover boy. Regardless of his decision, consumers can get their fill of Favre on Tuesday, August 12th with the purchase of Madden NFL 09 at their local Game Crazy store. Survey Methodology

The Game Crazy survey was conducted by Kelton Research between July 21th and July 24th 2008 using an e-mail invitation and an online survey. Results of any sample are subject to sampling variation. The survey had a margin of error plus or minus of 3.1 percentage points.
