Oregon Collegiate Golfer Nails Hole-In-One

BLUE RIVER, Ore. - Freshman Emily Stupfel (Salem, Ore.) aced the 158-yard par 3 eighth hole for her first-ever hole-in-one, as Corban's men's and women's golf teams opened the Cascade Collegiate Conference Qualifier #4 Monday at Tokatee Golf Course.

Playing in the final conference tournament of the regular season, Corban went head-to-head with fellow conference members Concordia, The College of Idaho, and Northwest Christian.

In addition to her ace, Stupfel tied for 11th individually with a 32-over 104 that placed her fourth overall among the Warriors' women golfers.

Along with Stupfel, sophomore Jordon Weldon (Klamath Falls, Ore.) paced the Warriors with a 30-over 102 to go along with senior Caylin Bankston's (La Grande, Ore.) 31-over 103 and freshman Elizabeth Sherwin's (Gresham, Ore.) 32-over 104.

As a team, Corban shot a 125-over 413 to trail Concordia by 76 strokes and tournament-host Northwest Christian by 13 strokes heading into the second round.

Freshman Morgan Bars (Grants Pass, Ore.), who was posted as an individual scoring-wise, carded a 44-over 116 to rounded out the Warriors' scoring in the opening round.

Individually, Concordia's Lindsay Aho shot a tournament-low 8-over 80 and leads fellow teammate Kim Lindow by a mere two strokes and NCC's Ashley King by three strokes.

On the men's side, senior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) paced the Warriors with an opening round of 4-over 76 and trails tournament leader, Tyler Austin of Concordia by a mere four strokes heading into today's second round.

Along with Sisler, freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) and junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) each posted identical opening round scores of 8-over 80 to go along with senior Wade Douglas' (Ontario, Ore.) 10-over 82.

As a team, the Warrior men posted a first round total of 30-over 318 and trails Concordia by 13 strokes heading into the tournament's second round. Meanwhile, the Warriors lead tournament-host Northwest Christian by a mere two strokes after the opening round.

Concordia's Austin is the clubhouse leader after the opening round with an even-par 72 and leads Northwest Christian's Justin Ahrens by a mere two strokes.

All four teams will conclude today's play with the second of three rounds played this afternoon at Tokatee Golf Course.
